does having capital affect Carers?

i get DLA and we could have claimed carers years ago but never have as my husband prefers to work (albeit part time short days so he can be around morning and afternoon to help).
in actual fact we would probably have had more money if he had claimed CA ages ago!!! anyways it looks like he is going to lose his job and the likelihood of getting another one with similar hours is very low.
I own a flat (in my name only) which I rent out so i assume he wouldnt be able to get JSA or IS etc but could he claim carers??
i get high DLA and long term IB
many thanks in advance

Carer's allowance is not affected by savings.
If you are getting Middle or High Rate for Care andyour husband is earning less than £100 a week after allowable expenses (National Insurance, tax etc...) then he can claim CA.
In terms of JSA, if he's been working and paying National Insurance for the last couple of years he'll be able to claim contributions based for six months which doesn't take into account capital/savings. Of course, eligibility for JSA requires him to be looking for work.
