A different sort of post for this site.
I'm currently a cleaner, long story short... Started cleaning as a stop gap, but have been tied into it for six years now and really want to change.
In the Cosham area (Portsmouth)
Would someone be able to make me a MoneyMaker for a change as I'm already a moneysaver thanks to this site.
No specific job in mind, but something different would be nice, suffice to say, nothing in the local paper is much good.

Hello russellgreeno
Your thread will be better placed in the 'Benefits, Tax Credits & Jobseeking' board, so I'll move it across for you.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

What do you mean by this?
What sort of work do you fancy? Have you thought about signing on at a temp agency to see if they have anything going? Shop work for Christmas (although getting a bit close now) or even a temporary postman. Many temp jobs lead to permanent offers if you are enthusiastic and good at it.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I just fancy something different... the sort of stuff you don't see in the paper.
For example.... spy's aren't advertised in local papers.0 -

Are they not?
Would you really want a job as a spy anyway? I've heard the perks (sushi lunches) aren't that great. :eek:0 -
No I don't think I fancy being a spy, I don't like Martini for a start

More ideas welcome and offers too, there must be some Portsmouth employers on here, c'mon, offer me something.
I've had one offer by private message so far and that was Kleenezie, I was thinking something a bit better than that.0 -
Never mind what you fancy, what skills can you offer an employer? You need to think about that, because if you've spent several years cleaning, you're going to need to demonstrate what else you're capable of.Signature removed for peace of mind0

that I'm saying I can't do other stuff, I can, but I wanted to see what was put, rather list what skills I do and don't have apart from cleaning.
What happend to the days when employers took risks, taking on a hot young buck like myself? Why play safe taking some posh twit from some university with a long name anyway, he's only going to bore you to death with stories about his 'amusing' antics from his school days!
C'mon, I want interesting and unusual offers! :rolleyes20 -
How about immigration control off the Isle of Wight ferry?

There are loads of big employers in Portsmouth - the Council, IBM, the University, Zurich, the Naval base....
but it's probably a case of starting at the bottom and working your way up, especially if you haven't got any specific skills to speak of.
You could try registering with a few agencies, they will probably give you a computer skills test to check how well you can use Word and Excel etc.
Once you've got your foot in the door somewhere, it will be much easier for you to find a role that you like, your employer might even sponsor you to earn qualifications in that role.
Unfortunately you need a lot more than being a posh twit and having a degree to be successful, employers don't want to take risks cos it's too expensive!!
And remember, not all posh people are twits, and not all of them have degrees....0
