Gourmet Society

Options
Hi, I'm an MSE lurker (turned newbie today) and wondered if any MSE's had any experience of this scheme?

Recently got sent a free 3-month membership to the "Gourmet Society", from 02, which promises up to 50% off a variety of eating establishments & coffee shops. However, upon doing a quick local search, I find very little of interest around my local area, unless I want to frequent Caf! Rouge on a regular basis.

If anyone has any views on whether it's worth subscribing after the trial, or recommending any good venues within London to maximise the potential of this trial, I'd be happy to hear from you.

Thanks :)

You would only have to use it once to get your money back wouldn't you? So as long as you have a local restaurant you fancy it's not too much of a decision!

I had it last year, havent go around to subscribing again yet! I used it a fair amount, mainly if I went away for a weekend and thing, the deals are pretty good, nice for going out for family meals for occasions! My friends would often borrow it and buy me a pint in exchange.... worked for me :)

    hi
i used to have one of these cards. i got it on offer for £1 for 6 months and i love it!
i do eat out a lot anyway but i saved a lot of money using this.
There is a wide range of restaurants and most of the deals include 25% the total bill or buy one get one free.
In one restaurant in the Trafford Centre i got 50% off food bill for 3 people!
I have just registered for a 14 month one for £25.. knowing i will make my money back in a few meals out.

Having had a 6 month trial of a Gourmet card, and a Taste (previously Taste London) card, I thought that the Taste card had a better range of places that you could use it, with fewer restrictions on using it. Taste cards are also available on ebay for a few quid.

I've just seen an offer on the Matalan website.. exclusive to matalan reward card holders (which is free to pick up in store) .. the offer is a free 2 month dining card to The Gourmet Society.. all you have to do is pay 99p for p&p. When using the card you get 2 meals for the price of 1 at selected restaurants.

There seems to be quite a lot of restaurants offering this deal in my area!
