Threshold for benefits such as c/tax benefit and i/s

Hi, i have recently gone on SSP (poss long term) and after an earlier post on this website i was advised that i could possibly claim council tax benefit and income support.
I wondered though how it would be decided wether or not we would be granted these , i assume it is based on income but is it income from last tax year or projected earnings for this tax year.
I will be getting the SSP rate and my wife works 18+ hours at min wage with the fact she sometimes flexes her hours as she is part time so gets asked to do bit extra now and again but her contracted hours are 18.

Advice gratefully received. thanks

it will be based on household income at the present time, if your wife does more than her contracted hours every so often then they may average her wages out over a period of time to put in figure which would cover her for the weeks she does more and the weeks she does less so that you don't have to constantly telephone them with new details every time she gets paid, try entitled to that should give you a rough idea - http://www.turn2us.org.uk/benefits_search.aspx

You are definatly not entitled to income support because the goverment say you and your wife are only entitled to @ £105 per week to live on unless you get DLA (kids, if you have them are dealt with by CTC and not IS now)

council tax benefit is based on current income, not last years.
