Claifming help with mortgage

I was made redundant in March and broke my wrist the same week so have been unable to work and am claiming ESA. I have sent relevant form to my mortgage company from benefits agency to claim mortgage relief. I have paid my mortgage this month with the little savings I have but will struggle to make further payments. Does anyone know how long it takes for a payments to be made and in what form they are paid ie direct to lender please? I am anxious about getting into arrears and also worried that my mortgage is soon due for renewal. Any advice gratefully received.

there is a 13 week qualifying period before they will make any payment and then it is interest only. Have you spoken to your lender?

You are eligible for help with mortgage interest after thirteen weeks. Interest of 3.63% will be paid direct to your lender every four weeks.

And you can only get help if you are on income based ESA, not contributions based.

And you most likely wont wont be on ESA for 13 weeks with a broken wrist anyway, you will probably fail the medical.

You need to speak to your lender ASAP. Is there any way you can get a lodger in?

    Have a look here

Thanks Beecher, have advertised spare room for lodger and spoken to my lender today. Also received letter stating that as my mortgage is a remortgage (due to term ending on original) further info is needed in order to make a claim. I am currently digging out details and having to justify the additional £5000 taken out with remortgage to replace a non working boiler and refurbish a leaking bathroom suite and damaged kitchen ceiling due to the leak! I wouldn't mind but my mortgage payments are £300 per month, far less than it would cost them to pay rent for me to live in a similar property!
