I think a second hand one can be reprogrammed to your car these days.jillyjacks wrote: »Can anyone help please? i have lost the key card for my renault laguna ...its an 02 model and this was the only key card I had Does anyone where I can get a replacement?? Wasn't always the case, so best to check that first.
Maybe get a used one from ebay then get it matched to your car.
Better advice can probably be had from a specialist Renault forum.
Maybe this one.0 -
thanks I have been looking on e bay and there seem to be some for sale on there but no advice about how to get them programmed to your car...will have a look at that renault forum...thanks x0

Don't forget that you will also need to get a new emergency key cut to let you manually open the front nearside door.
No idea how you get that done though, without anything to copy.
Maybe main dealer for that.
But again, do check that a used card key can be reprogrammed to your car before buying. :beer:0 -
I have joined the forum and asked the question but i'm waiting to be approved
my car is unlocked at the moment as I had unlocked it before I lost the key card so I shouldn't need to get a key cut to open the car.... 0 -
I have had some experience with Renaults, and I know for certain that on certain models, you have to get the key card from a dealer and it arrives pre-programmed from Renault - advise you check with a dealer before buying a 2nd hand one & finding it can't be programmed?0

thanks...that seems to be the opinion on that forum as well.....they dont recommend buying off e bay0

Try googling "Renault keys" or similar wording for your area, I tried this in my home city and there were 1,800,000 results (in 0.16 seconds)!!
One result is described on their website as a 24 hour emergency auto locksmith.Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to p*** us off.0 -
Definitely speak to a Renault Dealer. I think you'll find that they have to refer the matter to France, so tight are the security controls on new cards. Second hand cards can't be reprogrammed at all to a different vehicle.0
