HI there everyone
just had a query didnt know who to ask really
i want to buy a HSS Hacksaw blade 12" 18tpi however wherever i search it says HSS bi metal
just wondering whether theyre the same or better than just HSS

It means the edge with the teeth for about 1/8" is High Speed Steel and it is the rest of the blade is lesser metal the two being bonded (electron beam welded) together. Bimetal are superior.
Wholly HSS blades are so brittle that you will end up screaming with frustration.0 -
Bi-Metal blades are preferable as they are more flexible and not so prone to breakage.I can afford anything that I want.

Get some silicone/bi-metal/flexible blades which don't shatter as soon as you do the first stroke0 -

All HSS blades were the only type available when I started as an apprentice. You had to learn how to nurse the blade when using it and not jam it , especially when cutting a piece of grey cast iron guttering.You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian!
