B&Q - returning goods

Hi I thought this might be of interest and possibly raise a smile from one or two of you. We were in our local B&Q store today to look at stuff to paint our shed. We noticed some ronseal spray or brush fence covering in the same colour as the shed had been done previously that was reduced to £5 a container. Haha we thought just the job so we bought two containers of it which cost us £9( £10 less the over 60 discount). When we got home my husband applied some to the shed and it was the most watery and strange coloured product you can imagine. He left it to dry in case it improved but it did not. We decided to return it and get another product. When we went to the returns desk we were asked so many questions in a rather assertive manner by the assistant that we wondered if we had imagined the problem, the final question being did we take a photograph of the shed before we started so that she could see the colour it was before!! After a lot of tutting and helpful advice to my husband ( who has been involved in the building trade for many years before retiring) and stirring of the product to try and get it to the colour on the front of the container it was decided that she could refund our money. I guess the point of my story is make sure you take a photo before starting any work using products bought from B&Q !! Needless to say we did not buy the replacement product there.

It sounds a bit like someone might already have returned this product!! Used what they needed and watered down what was left in order to return it!
I hear B&Q have a fair bit of trouble with people trying to return used paint!
No need for them to take that attitude with you. But I would say sadly this sort of attitude is the norm everywhere if you get a helpdful person its normaly the exeption.
Think B&Q are bad you should pay a visit to homebase LOL they just grunt and point.0 -
That may well be the reason! had not thought it might have been watered down. We thought it was old stock and had 'gone off' in some way. How devious can some people be.0
