Sold a printer that had continuous errors

Hi there,
I was sold a second hand printer (value £1250) that since arriving has had continual error after error, resulting in it not working correctly and eventually not even turning on.
After weeks and weeks of calls and emails to the supplier, I have come to no definitive conclusion/fix. I was further sold a £600 piece of software by the supplier that would "fix the problem". It didnt and won't even serve a purpose in our business now.
On speaking to a local machine engineer today, I have been informed that it could cost £1000 to fix. On emailing the supplier, they have pretty much wash their hands. I asked them to help resolve this amicably or I would discuss it with trading standards. They have ceased replying to communications.
I'm now sitting with about £2500 (including consumables) of unusable products.
Your help is much appreciated
Edit: This was sold by a company, not an individual - if that makes any difference

Discuss it with Trading Standards.0

Trading standards or a return under warranty should sort it out for you.0

Can I be nosey and ask what sort of printer it is? I've thought about buying a Versacamm (or similar) system but have become wary of buying second hand printing systems.

The supplier has point blankly refused to reply to any correspondence, so trading standards it is.
The machine is a UV ink indoor printer, not a solvent one like the versacamm. By all accounts Rolands are great printers!!!

Yes Rolands are great - got 2 here :j
Did you get this from a machine dealer or did you buy it from a company in the trade that were just selling a no longer wanted machine?
Not an HP Signjet I hope. Got one of those as well. Worlds biggest doorstop.
