Best Business Bank

Hi
Iam looking for some advice after having arow with Santander Bank. I live in a converted house of five flats to which we have now purchased the lease so control all maintenance of the house ourselves.
I was designated the accountant and applied to be the signatory on the business account which was already set up with Santander.
After successfully reciveing a letter confirming that and and also a debit card which I requested I then applied for online banking so I can maintain the accounts effectively.
After sending back the forms I hadn't received any response so decided to phone up today to enquire.Aftter asking me several security questions they also wanted to know the history of the accoount as in when it was opened before they would even talk to me. Unfortunately I don't have that information as the previous landlord never supplied it and can't now contact him. So I have to write a letter requesting this information before they will talk to me even though I correctly provided them recent transactions as further proof. Why they didn't ask me to provide passwords on the application I don't know.
So I obviously am not impressed with this or the fact they have taken so long to come back to me reagrding online banking.
I will now be looking to take my business elsewhere and would like advice on the best account to use.
Would obviously like a free one if possible as we don't have many transactions just maintenance payments into the account and cheques written when any work is done.
Online banking is a must as well.
Was considering HSBC but they seem to charge and unfortunately my bank First Direct do deals with businesses.
Sorry if it is a bit long winded .

Most of the big banks offer the the first 18/24 months fee free but try the HSBC Business Direct Account
As long as you stay within the transaction limits, its totally fee free even after this period and is ideal for small businesses whose main transactions are electronic.
My father uses them and is quite happy and you can sometimes find referral offers from existing HSBC business customers to open a business account with HSBC.
