Hi penny...I recently discovered this company,
    http://www.damndelicious.co.uk/
they have a butchers shop in Lanark, but their online stuff is butchered at the farm, all Aberdeen Angus and very tasty..good value for money too,I got the £79.99 beef box,(Tho if bought individualy the contents wouldve cost almost £92)..free delivery too.
I havent tried the lamb tho..no-one at home likes lamb

PS,forgot to add I also like Costco butcher meat, noticed at the weekend that their steak mince, diced steak and braising steak were all just £4.99 Kg...I may get my meat from there this month instead of damn delicious(tho i hate bagging up and freezing raw meat..Damn delicious stuff is all individualy vacuum packed)
    Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
Week 10,total weightloss is now 13.5lbs Week 11 STSweek 14(I think)..-2, total loss now 1 stone exactly
    GOT TO TARGET..1/2lb under now weigh 10st 6.5(lost 1st 3.5lbs)

Anyone know where is the best place to buy meat that is not a over the top price. Currently we have all of our shopping delivered by Ocado however I feel we spend a lot on shopping so would like to go back to cooking more from scratch. Plus I bought a new kitchen gadget at the weekend which will make things easier.

I am also going to investigate some local fruit and veg farm shops.

We eat a lot of meat (everyday) so would be good to see where others buy good, quality meat from.

    Thanks

Check out Harrison farming also Grasmere Farms google it I can't post links yet.
It's only rock and roll but I like it.

What an interesting thread. I usually buy my meat etc from Morrisons or my local farm shop, however we have just had a Waitrose open fairly nearby and I have found that their meat is very good, especially if it is reduced because of the date! :j

Another vote here for Costco. I have never yet bought meat from there that I've not been pleased with. I've always found their meat to be much leaner than supermarket meat, and better than the meat I've had from the only remaining butcher in our town.

Their boneless, skinless chicken breasts are ENORMOUS! I use one between two of us for curries etc and we've never felt short-changed. And we don't have weeny portions!
  • Thumbs up for Costco from me

I always try and shop with my local butcher. Who is great and I can buy as much or as little as I want!!

Local shops need to be supported.

You can add, rate and review your local butchers on this website below, still a new site but the more people who start using it the more useful it will be as a good source for finding the best butcher in your local area.

    http://www.best-butcher.co.uk

It is my own site I made as I had the same issue in trying to find good local butchers, an I make websites for a living so thought it would be a great idea to build such a site. Just need to build up more users now and get more butchers on there with reviews. I always add any new butcher I try out and try to add other handy info in the forum as well.

Has anyone used the butchers block. Their meat seems very reasonably priced but I am worried that if I ordered 12 chicken breasts that they would be delivered frozen in one packet meaning I would have to defrost and cook them all in one go. Any know if they come individually packed?

Sorry I don't know but if you do use them please be sure to add them and leave your ratings for them on my butcher ratings website mentioned in this thread. :)
