HELP! Leaking double glazed windows

I had a housefire last April and my Insurers instructed a builder to replace the windows at the front of the house as part of the insurance work.

Early this year I noticed a black mark on the wallpaper at the side of the window and the builder advised that it was damp due to the paper going on when the plaster hadn't dried properly. He assured me that the windows were sealed properly and that he would have a chat with his decorater and get back to me. That was in the Spring when I paid him the last part of his bill and now after numerous calls to both him and the Structural Surveyors who instructed him I have not heard anything. The surveyor even put something in writing to him but said as he has been paid and they have no work outstanding with him it would be hard to get him back!!!!! So I put up with the horrid stain on my nice new wallpaper.

Yesterday I noticed that there was a puddle of water on the windowsill and again there is one there today after the storms. I'm presuming the windows are not as sealed as the builder made out.

As these windows were replaced as part of the huge works to my house after the fire who do I contact - the insurers, loss adjustor or surveyor? I could ring the builder and leave yet another message on his answerphone but I want this sorted out :(

I could scream!!!!

Having just been through a similarly large claim (flood!) I would contact the loss adjuster and copy the insurance company (or the other way) and get them to sort the problem. Explain you are unable to get any joy from the builder.

The only problem may be if you appointed the workmen rather than the insurance company then they may not be interested.

    Good luck.
