Laptop warranty help

I recently called samsung to ask if my laptop charger was under warranty as it wasn't working ,I had already purchased a new one but was advised that the charger was still under warranty and as they are so expensive I should ask samsung to replace it.
The Samsung adviser who couldn't speak English too well and didn't seem to understand much, advised me that yes it was still under warranty but they would need the laptop back, I was very reclutant to do this as I use the laptop quite a lot and it worked perfectly fine, she insisted that I send the laptop back so this is what I did.
I have now been informed that the laptop is water damaged:eek and they are going to charge me £300 for repair plus a re-delivery charge?
I have argued with them and told them to listen to the original phone call (all calls are recorded ) they are now telling me to take it up with digi-care,
I have asked them to send the laptop back without charge so I can have it inspected independently but they are refusing unless I pay delivery charge,
Can anyone advise me on my rights, hope I have posted on the right board.

Wow, thats a real bind.. and i feel for you. I find it strange that samsung are even charging if its still under warranty. First off, do you know if the laptop is actually damaged! of course there is no way of proving that you didnt damage it! I had issues with my toshiba and they collected, fixed and couriered it back to me without any cost being accrued on my behalf. How much is the delivery?I'm not normally a religious man, but... if you're up there, save me, Superman!0

It seems odd! do you have any correspondents with them (emails etc) that you could at least you use in your defense. Something that highlights that it is the charger that is the issue and not the laptop, that the laptop is working fine but it is the charger that is being temperamental/problematic?
i can understand your fury and frustration with this as there is really not a huge amount that you are able to do as they are the gate keepers!!!I'm not normally a religious man, but... if you're up there, save me, Superman!0 -
Unless you bought your laptop and charger from Samsung, you need to contact the shop you bought it from as it is their legal responsibility to sort it out.0

Have they said anything about the charger? Is it faulty or not?
Or are they saying that the fault is that the laptop wont charge because the laptop is water damaged?
I dont think it has to be a lot of water for them to class it as water damage, there will be a little sticker in the laptop that changes colour or something with moisture, maybe you kept it in a car and condensation got in and made it look as though there had been water damage when there wasnt. They will have seen that the water indicator is there and then just assumed free reign to charge you for it.0 -
