better return on investment???

I have two small houses together worth approx £180,000, yet after a varied of expenses I only return about £9,000 in rent a year, before tax. Anyone suggest a better return for this kind of money?

5% is not a bad yield IMHO.

You may be able to better it with S&S investments, which in the longer term have gernally returned more than 5%. However, which particular investments you should invest in is really the important question.

No doubt the precious metal fans will come out in singing the praises of gold & silver. However, I think that ship might have sailed already.

Don't look at what they are worth, look at how much you owe on them or how much you paid for them.

However, I am no fan of buy to let for part-time landlords.

    Eh?? Who cares?

    OP,

I would suggest you consider an IFA, who can offer cogent advice with full knowledge of your financial situation.

Yes, consider an IFA but always get a second opinion, there are thousands of them and they all have quite distinct points of view, some focus of what is best for them.

I'd be interested in knowing this too and the amount outstanding. Also what was the last sale price?

Where have you got the £180k valuation from as this will affect your yeilds?
