Had a corrupt file that stopped my machine from booting up so did a repair installation from my original XP pro cd.

System repaired without affecting any installed programs or data except an old (15 years plus) cad package.

When I try to run it I get a window headed as per the thread title which says "config.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose "Close" to terminate the application"

I've also tried reinstalling the package but that gives the same message

anyone got any ideas what the problem is?

tried first suggestion, copying the files from the repair directory, didn't work

on to the second suggestion, expanding the files off the XP CD, still didn't work but got a different error message mentioning another file that needed installing, expanded that off the CD and everything is back to normal
