How much for a burglar alarm fitting?

Hi,

Wanting a rough estimate for a burglar alarm, three zones for motion detectors, a main panel in attic and a keypad near to door. This is in Yorkshire if that matters.

I've had one quote so far but don't want to influence you!

Thanks :)
NST September: SFD 17/20, food £62.87/£60, travel £61.55/£40, Outings £39.80/£100, Allotment £7.17/£30 Other: £42.32, Meditation ?/30.

    Hi Synonymous,

Just thought I'd jump in here as I used to be an alarm install engineer many moons ago. Maybe I can help?

    Firstly, a little advice...

Alarm panel should never be fitted in the attic. Under Nacoss regs, the panel should be within the protected area, so unless you're planning on paying for a motion detector in the attic this is a no-go. Any decent alarm company surveyor will tell you this though.

With regards to docmatt's comment about lifting carpets, decoration etc, this can be an issue if you opt for a hard wired system. I should know... I sweat blood and tears moving wardrobes and carpets over the years. However, technology has come on a long way in a short time and there are some fantastic wireless panels on the market now. I still have friends in the trade who swear by them... not least because it makes their life much simpler :)

As for costs... I would imagine you would be looking in the region of approximately £350 - £450 for an alarm fitted by a professional alarm company. Make sure you opt for an NSI or SSIAB approved company. This is a MUST if you're also looking for police response.

I built a website which can give you an idea of how much you can expect to pay for a home alarm system.

    I hope this helps...
    Good luck,
    Woody
