Do structural engineers do Free checks/ like a free valuation?

if now, how much would they charge? approx?


we need them to check our conservantry , which has had its brickwork damaged due to an oaktree on a council field.

    In my experience, no.

    IIRC I paid about £400 for a similar survey to be done. It isn't cheap.

    BTW I'd think long and hard before you approach your insurers about subsidence or ground heave problems. You could end up getting your house blighted for no reason.

    no they dont. however they will give you a minimum price. usually a single days rate.
    300/400/500 quid is typical.
    Get some gorm.

    if you are going to try and blame the council for having their tree there, you should complain to them and they should send someone out to inspect it - but can't see it!

    Why should structural engineers give free checks on anything. They have a living to make just like the rest of us.
    In any event, it's likely that a sizeable oak tree would pre-date your conservatory.
    I can afford anything that I want.
    Just so long as I don't want much.
