Amazon unable to deliver netbook

As the title says Amazon are unable to deliver this item on time - I have been waiting a month now and possibly another month with no guarantees. I cannot find this product anywhere else.

Asus EeePC 1015PX 10.1 inch netbook (Intel Atom N570 1.5GHz, 1Gb, 250Gb, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Win 7 Starter) - Black

I really need a very portable netbook for holidays main uses are:

Uploading photos

Emails

Playing already downloaded films and music and listening to on headphones (long flights around 11 hours)

Skype

I tried Apple products but do not get along with them.

Does anyone have any comparable options for me?

I have but again the Asus is on pre-order only - any suggestions I can look at?

Have you looked at Dell? They have similar speced notebooks for decent prices. My wife has had one for over a year and it's worked out great.

They also have an interesting looking hybrid tablet/netbook, but I've not really experienced that personally so couldn't recommend whether it's good or not

The Samsung GT-P1010 is now available; it's [STRIKE]just[/STRIKE] like the original Tab but without the expensive-to-use 3G modem inside, so it's Wi-Fi only. I'd point you towards the Motorola Xoom if it weren't so bloody expensive...

Aside from those, there's also the Advent Vega. Relatively modern hardware in an affordable package.

Note: the Dell Inspiron Duo has mediocre battery life. Other than that it's supposedly pretty good.

I think its best to stick with a netbook - tablets are still in their infancy relatively speaking.

Living on a small, damp foggy island doesn't help either. Everyone else gets these things before we do!

Those new AMD-powered netbooks, for example...

I've got a black Samsung N150 Plus too :) dual-core N550, I upgraded the RAM to 2GB and very happy with it.

Edit: got mine from Amazon for £230, seems the price has now gone up to £244 there http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-10-1-inch-netbook-Webcam-Starter/dp/B004HZG2O2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1304499190&sr=1-1

The longest battery life you can realistically expect on a netbook is in the 8-10 hours range and that's just on very light duties.

That might sound OK, but start asking it to play video and you can half that.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.

    Hi

I got 8 hours battery out of my Samsung NC10 when I turned off the wireless and only typed up some essays/coursework.
