Hi
My iphone 3 has cut out as I forgot to charge it. I put it on the charger, then shortly after noticed an itunes logo and its not charging - connected it to my usb and it brings up itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this iphone before it can be used in itunes.
Problem though it was working fine, until it cut off then after charging it things went wrong. It needs charged but can't seem to now.
Is my only option to restore it? Will I lose contacts/photos/apps etc?

Unless backup has been manually disabled it should automatically restore from the last backup taken during sync. If not once it has restored right-click the phone name in itunes and select "Restore from Backup". It should then offer you a backup to choose from.0

itunes will verify the restore with apple. After this process is complete, you will have the option to restore your contacts, calendars, text messages and other settings.
(looks as if I'll lose media and other data) scared to click restore and update now lol but don't think ive any other option0 -
If you connect your ipod to your computer and open the ipod up under my computer, allow hidden file view (under tools), then copy and paste everything on ipod to desktop. That should save your media etc. which hopefully you can copy across?0

First you need to show hidden files-
- Click on the Control Panel menu option.
- When the control panel opens you change it so you are using Category view.
- Click on the Appearance and Personalization link .
- Under the Folder Options category, click on Show Hidden Files or Folders.
- Go to step 5.
- Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files, folders, or drives.
- Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide extensions for known file types.
- Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).
- Press the Apply button and then the OK button..
Then...
Go into My Computer then search your names iphone in the search box.
eg John's iPhone
It should then show all the files0 -

Do I go back now and untick show hidden folders and files etc?0 -
Just wondering should I go and untick hidder folders etc?0

Probably best to put it back as it was. It won't cause a problem leaving it, but you will be seeing things different than you are used to.0
