Booking my first abroad holiday for years, with my three kids 12, 9 and 5 and new partner, looking at around £200 per person self catering for around 16th June, keep looking and looking and finding it quite frustrating! struggling because there are five of us I think!
I did fancy majorca, but it seems quite expensive? what websites are good, want to do a package because I'm a nervous traveller, are there any good all inclusive deals anywhere, and how much research do you do for a weeks holiday, I've spent about 6 hours today and got nowhere.
Would it just be easier to go to a travel agents, or are they much more expensive?
Thanks

What is the cheapest you have found?
Perhaps try and haggle http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-holiday-haggling-guide#hagglePosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
For the past 3 years I have booked flights and hotel seperately but all with Thomson and it has worked out much cheaper for us. You can add your transfers and have the use of Thomson kids clubs, get invited to the welcome meeting etc.
If you go onto the site and click on hotels pick one you like then it will give you an option to add your flights. We go to San Miguel Hotel Ibiza which would cost you £980 for 7 nights all inclusive (2 rooms interconnecting) excluding flights but there are plenty more to choose from.0 -
£200 per person seems pretty low, not overly surprised you are struggling.
If you are struggling to find a SC holiday in budget then the chances of finding an AI holiday in the same budget is pretty much non existant.
It would be far easier to book in a travel agent, but yes it will be far more expensive.0 -
£200 self catering but more for AI have found one to turkey for 291 each, but other half not keen on Turkey at the minute :-/ says not much there for kids? will book something later or we'll end up in Blackpool in the rain for a week like last year lol x0

Its a pity you wont try "self packaging" abroad. Do you get a package and a a rep to meet you when you get off the bus or train at blackpool? of course you dont . And anyway tour opps dont like families of 5 . Thats why they base all their offers on nice families of 3 or 4. Thats why I started "self packaging" back in 2002. It was the only way we could get abroad as a family of 5.
A tyical example 17 June Ryanair -Liverpool to Gran Canaria 17 June to 24 June 5 passengers £330 rtn inc 10kg hand luggage + say 3X hold luggage = £150 so total for flights is £480
search https://www.roomratecompare.com for accom.
ie 2 bedroom apt suitable for family of 5 Arimar in Puerto Rico is £173.50 for the week with https://www.Hotels4u.com
A return shuttle transfer is £58 with https://www.airporttransfers.co.uk
So Total cost is
£480 + £173+£58 = £710
That leaves £290 of your budget to spend as you please on your holiday0 -
I'm off to benidorm in 3 weeks, i searched online for around 2 weeks constantly trying to et the best deals, i ended up with flights, baggage, taxes etc, seats and meals, All Inclusive for 1 week, transfers, insurance and airport parking all for £313 each0

Or Majorca from Liverpool 8 days 16 June to 24 June . Ryanair £349 inc 3 X hold luggage
Once again https://www.roomratecompare.com found
Sol De Alcudia apartments (2 bedroom suitable for 5) in Alcudia for £522 with https://www.booking.com
Shuttle transfers are £55 RTN with https://www.airporttransfers.co.uk
So total cost is £349 + £522 + £55 = £926.0 -
Started looking on teletex got 10 days self catering in lanzarote from Luton £350 for both of us, flights and accomadation.
Top tips, only take carry on luggage, big saving, check on Trip advisor for accomadation and also check out how far from the airport, local taxis usually cheaper than transfer. Check that your back account to see if they give you free travel insurance most do these days. If flying from heathrow or gatwick the "meet and Greet" service is sometimes cheaper that the shuttle service and a lot less hassel.
The cheapest "meet and greet" at Luton is £77 for 10 days, has anyone found cheaper would like to hear...0 -
Try finding a cheap Ryanair flight to Reus and look on Thomson's website for the Golden Avenida Aparthotel in Salou. Reus airport is only a 10 mins journey from here and cheap to transfer. The hotel has 2 bed apartments and if you book SC it cheap and you can upgrade formeals when you get there. Theres lots of entertainment for the kids and kidsclubs. You also have Port Aventura and the waterparks so plenty to do.0
