Wooden Floors - How to choose?!?!

Hi all,
I've asked a few questions of late, information has really helped so thanks all. Here's another (can you tell I have no idea...?)....
I am moving shortly and want a new wooden floor laid downstairs in hall and kitchen. I am researching between real wood and engineered. I like the walnut look, dark, but not too dark. I noticed next are now doing them, but same products on flooring supplies are 30-50% cheaper. Anyone used this company?
So many options re finishes, edges, widths, I am lost, any tips???
TIA...
