Stagecoach Buses are a rip-off

The other day I travelled on a Stagecoach Bus in South East England and the fare was £3.60 to travel 6 miles. What a rip-off. How does the Government expect people to ditch their cars and use public transport at these ridiculously high prices. There's no way travelling by car would cost £3.60 in fuel to travel just 6 miles.

I suppose you have to factor in the cost of parking but even so this does seem a bit steep. Here in Brighton, you can buy all day tickets for 2.60 which as it says you can use all day for as many journeys as you like - bargain. Still parking costs a fortune so they have to do something to discourage cars.~A mind is a terrible thing to waste on housework~0

There are lots of factors when running a car many people perceive that running a car mainly entails fuel, where actualy fact the cost of running even a modest car is quite high in relation to there perceptions.

The costs of owning and running a car in real terms hasn't changed much in recent years believe or not.
I do feel however that many of our European counterparts although have more cars per head, actually use there cars less, because public transport is more convienant and as a whole cheaper.

We pay 90p to travel a mile into town, it's a easy enough walk if you're on your own but not with a 3 year old.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
i got a stagecoach bus recently and a single journey from preston to blackpool was over £4... however... a return came up at £3.50
i only needed a single but of course i bought a return!!!0 -
In London the bus fare is a flat £1.20 even if you only go one stop!!!!
However, the crafty blighters have started to cut routes in half so instead of having to take one bus, you now need to take two for the same journey at £1.20 each. Of course, if you do this daily it is cheaper to get a weekly or longer bus pass. But on an occasional basis it is a real rip off and no incentive to leave the car behind.0 -
if there are a few of you its sometimes cheaper taking a taxi than paying the bus fares.. . I hardly ever take the bus even though it stops right outside my house.. last time i had my daughter on the bus and the school kids got on .. the swearing etc, and got loads of why they doing this and that from my daughter.. so from then on i took my car and parked in town sod the car park fees felt safer and less hassle from daughterThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
