French Supermarkets online shopping?

Hi, I am off to France in a couple of weeks and have got to cater for 20 people when I get there (friends and family). I have therefore got to get some food in and am a bit worried about ingrediants that I need and whether they will be available.
I will need double cream and when that is translated into French it comes up as creme fraiche which is a totally different thing in the UK.
I am also wondering whether there are any that will deliver to our chalet. We will be in the Haute Savoie region of France. Any French people out there who can help me?
many thanks

Hi Seth, I have visited France countless times and love browsing their 'supermarche'. I don't think you need to worry about products not being available in France, their range of produce in the supermarkets puts ours to shame! You're talking about the centre of European cuisine after all!
As for delivery, I would probably be more inclined to take a wander round the isles yourself and make your own choices (you will be spoilt for them.) The French do things differently to us, they live to eat rather than eat to live, therefore, shopping is an integral part of life. I couldn't be 100% but I don't think they have caught on to home delivery... unless it is from 'Pierre the farmer next door' who might have a couple of french chickens going spare!
I am sure you will have a wonderful time and you couldn't be in a better place to create a fantastic meal! Good luck.Sexkitten
Good things come to those who wait......... but the best will be taken by those who got there first

Charlotte3 is right. the quality iin the shops is unsurpassed. Bread that doesnt need buttering, pastries fresh every day. Fruit and veg bursting with quality and flavour. Can you make it 21 people I want to come too?The best work is the cheapest as the quality remains long after the price is forgotten0

Thee are all valid points above, but you've obviously posed the question for a reason. I was in Lille earlier today and picked up a leaflet at Carrefour which now offers La Livraison à Domicile there. It costs €7.50 unless you order over €250 of goods, or (strangely though usefully for this category) if you're pregnant!
The Carrefour website shows that this service is confined to the major conurbations.0 -

Where are you planning to shop? In Moutiers, for example, you'll have no problem - most of the staff speak English and almost all of the customers ARE English.
Let us know where you plan to shop - wherever it is, you'll encounter English Chalet Staff who are out there working all season and can point you in the right direction.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0
