For as any months as I can remember my MBNA CC payment has left my account using the fast pay method - but not this month when I needed it to happen!!! I set up the MBNA to come out on 29th April (day after pay day) but it said it was bank hol and would leave my account on 3rd May - payment required by 4th May. Not a problem I thought because of the fast pay.....how wrong I was:mad: Now waiting for a £12 late payment fee:mad:
LBM March 2011 (what on earth took me so long?)

Tomorrow is the 4th, so a faster payment could well come out and be with them by the 4th. So there is hope yet surely.
TBH I don't want to be harsh, but with the Bank Holidays surely you must have known that you really needed to make the payment earlier or you would face this sort of last minute situation.0 -
You're right I would have loved to have avoided this situation but with payday on the 28th and payment being required on the 4th there really wasnt a big window with all the bank hols. I dont think the payment will go by the faster payment as it normally details this on my statement and sadly it doesnt this month.LBM March 2011 (what on earth took me so long?)overdraft (1) -2950 overdraft (2) -246.00total CC £12,661 :eek:loan £5000DFD 2016:eek::eek: (cant come soon enough)0

You don't bank with Santander do you?
I ask because I made several payments on Wednesday last week (27th) and none of them went via FP. They were all to previously setup and used payees to who the payments normally went via FP.
I sent Santander a message complaining about them suddenly pulling the service without notice and their reply included this:Like other UK banks, Santander are implementing Faster Payments in stages so our transaction limits could be different to those advertised by the Scheme at any given time, as could the type of transaction applicable for Faster Payments.
We have started sending payments of up to £250 but some payments, especially initial ones, may occasionally be delayed due to random fraud checks. Only one per day can be sent at the moment, however, we will be making improvements to this facility in the near future.
I've sent back a further response saying how unreliable they are and how it is unfair for them to just pull a service at random and with no notice when people have come to expect it to be available and somewhat depend on it. No response yet - and I doubt I'll get one - they don't really care about their customers.
Interestingly, I made another online payment to one of the same payees the very next day and that DID go via FP.
Maybe it's something to do with the integrating of A&L with Santander (I'm an A&L customer) - the systems are pretty flaky at times. E.G. On Friday, I tried to transfer some money to my OH's Santander account. A&L wouldn't schedule it for the same day - pushed it out to the 2nd May. Cancelled the transaction, logged into Santander website and did the same transfer - the money went straight away.
Getting fed up with this unreliability and inconsistent availability of service and am starting to look at moving my business elsewhere...My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.
They are not a substitute for professional financial advice - but you knew that already didn't you?

Evening Hax, I understand your frustrations. I bank with Lloyds-Im not sure i understand this FP tho' who decides what goes by FP? is it the bank or the recipient? I ask as other payments have never gone by FP only the MBNA until this month. I do have an issue with Santander tho' I have a loan with them and a DD set up to pay it but lately they are not consistent with their dates and it has been known for them to take payment twice in one pay period. Life would be so much simpler with no bills to pay

Lloyds will send faster payment, but by the sounds of things this was a bill payment which takes longer. Can I find out my credit score? You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)0

MBNA do receive faster payments, but it can take a while for them to show up on the online statement. Check you MBNA account online tomorrow and there's a good chance it will show the payment arrived today.0 -
Just give them a ring and apologise saying it was an oversight due to the bank holidays. They will hopefully refund it and not report as a late payment. I did the same last month - paid on the last day of the month after 2.30pm not knowing that was their cut-off time and would take an extra day to go through. As long as you are polite on the phone and say it won't happen again you should be alright. (They also kindly re-instated my 0% so I will make sure I am not late again)!0

Do let us know how you get on whether the payment cleared and/or any phonecalls you had with them.
I still say it could reach them without issue, but if you do call, be polite and humble it will be more likely to get results.0
