Posting to Germany.....

I am selling some concert tickets on ebay and have just had an email asking if I would consider sending them to Germany (I think my settings say no international buyers).
Is there a greater risk selling internationally or am I being silly?:o

You'd be looking at needing a courier of course as RM won't guarantee a signature on items once they leave the UK.

I'm assuming as they are tickets you would post them special delivery in the uk? If not, you should, and there is no equivalent royal mail service for overseas.
  • I've posted many times to germany. 'airsure' could be the one. avoid italy at your peril

As has been said no RM service is guaranteed to track outside of the UK. This includes Airsure and International Signed For.

IMHO buyers in Germany prefer to pay by bank transfer. That could be the way to go, but check your bank for charges.

but if you insure them for the correct amount i can't see royal mail not paying out.

Many thanks for all your replies, I'm a bit dubious and don't know why! May just have to go on gut feeling with this one!

If the tickets are under £46 then airmail will suffice with cop.

If they are over this, then ISF with enhancement will be cheaper than Airsure, but neither offer guaranteed tracking suitable for a paypal dispute.

Op, if you want to prevent non Uk bidders then it is not just enough to say you post to UK only, you need to set your preferences to prevent bidders from non uk countries from bidding.

My preferences are set to UK bidders only, I think this is why I feel uneasy about it, I'm sure there are other sellers of the same tickets that do post outside the UK.

In the case of concert tickets. someone from Europe wanting to go will do a search on ebay uk. It's not rare to get requests like this. Selling in the uk, you can absolutely avoid an INR. Overseas, unless you courier them, you can't. But as said you can insure. Depends on whether you take the view that most ebayers are ok, and are prepared to go through the claim process if things go wrong.
But a simple request shouldn't make you uneasy.
