Hi
I hope someone on here can help me as I have done the google search and can't come up with any definate answer so really hope someone on here can help me put my mind at rest.:o
I have got a laptop 2nd hand and they set it all up, but there is a niggle at the back of my mind as it was set to be part of a network it may still be set to share, is there an easy way to check and to stop it happening in the future
It's running windows 7.
Thanks in advance for any help:)

Of course it's possible, does the laptop have an AV and firewall running ? if you don't trust them best thing to do is get a Windows 7 disc and reformat the whole thing and start fresh it's quite a simple process and you will find tuts on google - people can install things to monitor and log everything you do with keyloggers/trojans ( usually have keyloggers built in ) various root kits hidden from the wndows api, there is soo many possibility's is why you should start fresh, get someone you trust to do it if you can't

If you have doubts don't use it until it's installed fresh in front of you

run hijackthis and post the log, this should show everything thats running so would be able to see any remote access software, otherwise just do a factory restore from the restore partition which should take it back to the original settingsDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
If you don't mind saying, what makes you suspect your relative of accessing it remotely?0

Clean install is the best way to remove all doubt.
