Getting cover with a credit card

in Credit cards
Hi all,
I've read quite a bit about this lately but can't seem to find a definitive answer in my particular case. I wonder if you could help?
I have a holiday balance to pay for on 15 May (£3300+).
I paid the initial deposit (approx £400) in December 2010 on a Mastercard.
I have booked through an agent and not direct with the travel company (Royal Caribbean).
I have a LTSB AMEX Airmiles Duo card which I can use to pay for the balance but I would need to pay an extra £92 fee to use it. The equivalent Airmiles Duo Mastercard which I could use would cost me £12 less.
(I always clear my credit cards in full every month)
If I pay the balance by cash/cheque/debit there will be no fee.
My question is - am I covered if the agent and/or the travel company go bust? Is it worth the extra fee to get covered or am I covered already because I paid the deposit on Mastercard?
Thanks a million,
Shandyf

Its only how the deposit was paid that is relevant to section 75 cover. So paying the remainder by debit card/chq etc will make no difference.
However as you booked via an agent then I believe that you will probably not be covered by section 75 anyway if the travel company goes pop.
