Hi all
I haven't used Access for a while, but I'm fairly certain this isn't normal.
When I open a database, I get the warning that unsafe expressions are not blocked and do I want to block them? U always say no to that as it can cause problems with running some queries and macros.
I then get an error message that states :-
Our IT bods have had a look for it but they can't find it either.
Anyone any ideas?

I've had a look for the service pack it mentions but I can't find it (and I don't have the correct access level to install it either).Microsoft Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8 or later must be installed to block unsafe expressions without affecting common functionality.
The latest Microsoft Jet 4.0 service pack is available from Windows Update.
To block unsafe expressions, see the About Microsoft Jet Expression Service sandbox mode Help topic, which is available from the link at the bottom of this topic.
If the service pack is not applied:
Wizards and builders may not start.
Switchboards created by Switchboard Manager will fail.
The RunCode macro action for calling a Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) procedure will fail.
Event handlers that call VBA procedures will fail.
VBA procedures called from a property sheet or used in a SQL statement will fail.
Filtering on a hyperlink field will fail.
Some VBA functions called from a property sheet or SQL statement will fail.
More information about this error message online.
Our IT bods have had a look for it but they can't find it either.
Anyone any ideas?

Apply the latest MDAC (2.8 SP1) and then the latest SP for JET: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/data/aa937730.aspx
And btw the newest update may already be installed set your macro security setting to Low: Tools | Macro | Security to get rid of the prompt. The only real security that a man can have in this world is a reserve of knowledge, experience and ability.0 -
I knew about changing macro security, but wanted to get rid of the error.
I'll have a look on the link.

OK, finally got round to sortintg this and got the folloiwng:-
The MDAC 2.8 SP1 gives me an error which basically says it's not for this operating system (I'm using XP Pro).
Jet 4.0 SP8 for XP says I've already got a new version installed.
Any ideas?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
