in Credit cards
I was recently rejected by First Direct for ther current account as I did not meet their customer profile according to the letter (I have a number of current accounts and wasn't proposing transferring to them!).
I am getting to the end of my 0% with Egg but wondered whether I am also likely ot get rejected for the credit card? Also, do you need to have an FD current account to get a decent limit on their credit card (or even to get the card at all)?
Many thanks

If they rejected you for the current account, then its highly likely you will be rejected for the credit card
Maybe too many card applications over a too short a period of time ? Thus you will need to give it some time..0 -

I had no problems, just opened a current account with FD, and at last count had 4 other current accounts with other banks. I think it was more likely you didn't offer to transfer your current account that your salary/earnings gets paid into, to them? You could, and then change your mind. The only stupid question, is an unasked question ...0 -
Do you have a fixed land line? First Direct will only accept people with a fixed phone line (or at least they used to).0

I was also refused but am not too fussed. More annoyed I missed out on the free £25 and have another credit search!
Think the searches were a problem though as I have about 7 in the last month. I did this on purpose though as I wasnt planning on getting any new accounts for a while, and wanted all the searches to go on, and ultimately disappear at the same time, for when my new 0% rate runs out in 9 months.
Already prepared a letter to send FD though when I get the letter off them asking them to reconsider, giving the fact its only a current account for gawd sake  I am not interested in an overdraft or cheque book!

Bear in mind that searches on Experian last for 12 months, but on Equifax, last for 2 years.Mortgage Feb 2001 - £129,000
Mortgage July 2007 - £0
Original Mortgage Termination Date - Nov 2018
Mortgage Interest saved - £63790.60
ISA Profit since Jan 1st 2015 - 98.2% (updated 1 Dec 2020)0 -
How come the equifax report only shows searches in the last 6 months on my online report?

Were there others? Does it differ from the paper report? If you know info is missing you should probably investigate.0
