changing existing extension

We had a large two story extension built on the side of our 3 bed end of terrace house. It went thru planning and we have all the building reg paperwork and was signed off. We now are putting planning permission forward to have the extension converted into a seprate 2 bed house. This will therefore turn our origional house back to a three bed (mid) terrace and the two bed will become end of terrace. We have done research and had estate agents round, also asked people in our area who have done a similar thing, the problem i have is our neighbours didnt like the fact that we had the extension in the first place, (their complaints got overturned as we have a large piece of grassed area between us and them) and i know the building has been up for 8 years, but was wondering if they can stop this from happening. The only problem i can see is the congestion of cars, however we will be providing off road parking (communal driveway) (however most couples come with 2 cars now a days)
Also, before the extension, our cul de sac was made up of 2/3 bed houses, after the extension, there was a large 5 bed house, now, a pro, (i hope) we will be turning the road back to its origional state, a selection of 2/3 bed houses! What could prossibly go wrong!!!
Hope this makes sense - cant wait to sell them both and get away from our evil neighbours!!

The neighbours could easily object on the grounds of over intensification. Extending one house is one thing, but converting one house into 2 dwellings is something completely different.

i would be very careful looking at this - planning is one thing but building regs would be very interested in the separating walls/fireproofing etc, regs are quite lax for extensions under the same ownership but much more stringent for semi-detached dwellings
