cat weeing on bed

Hey everyone

Just a bit of advice on where to go from here. I have 2 cats one is 1 year and 3 months and another which is 11 months old now.
The youngest one keeps weeing on my bed. I moved into tnis property 16 april. They settled in well playing and fighting running around. Over the bank holiday i've been here in evenings and not during day like normal when i'm at work except I sleep loner and maybe out a hour longer. She did not wee on my bed until 2 days ago and I dont have washing machine at moment so have had to buy new duvets, sheet and matress protector each time and she's done it again.
I clean her cat litter tray as soon as I get home from work everday and I havent changed the litter. I have taken her to the vets they have done blods, urine samples and a stomache test and she is fine no infection and she's wormed and fleat treated regurly and had all her injections and shes been spyed.

In my old property she did this alot there was alot of upset and it was tensed and awful and I think they felt it. Which I think is why she done it then. Came here she stopped now started again I cant keep affording new duvets, sheets and protectors.... Can anyone give me sadvice. Just to let yyou know I love her with all my heart she is my babt and if she carrys on doing it I will just keep paying out would never get rid of her just would be great if I can find a reason she's doing this.

Her food has not changed either she's been on the same food for 6 months now.

Sorry this is long... I tend to gabble xxx
to be happy

My cat only did this twice. After the second time I kept the bedroom door firmly closed. She just could not be trusted. She would cry at the bedroom door when I went to bed but this phase didn't last long and then she forgot she'd ever been in that room. She wasn't deprived by being kept out of the bedroom.

As above - keep the bedroom door shut, end of.

If she starts peeing somewhere else in the house then - you will have another problem but for the moment keep the bedroom door shut.

I had this before with Tiger my old cat, brought another cat home and he just would not have it - he started peeing on the bed, MY bed all the time. So I do feel for you.
  • My client's cat kept spraying on my tools boxes- nice.

A friend gave me a bottle of this stuff.

I just sprayed the stuff aorund where I store my tools and they have been pee-free for the last week.

Inappropriate soiling is almost always due to stress if there's no illness or disease. In this case I think it's the stress of having two cats in the same property. They are not pack animals and don't always appreciate having to share their space with another.

Banish all cats from your bedroom permanently, wash all the linens in biological laundry detergent using some floral disinfectant in the last rinse and get at least a second litter-tray. Ensure that both litter-trays are somewhere private and give both cats somewhere where they can get away from the other one, like some high perches so they can keep a beady eye out for the other one.
  • My cat is 4 and does this in our spare room and my bedroom. He won't do it on my son's bed though. I think he does it because we let our dogs sleep in our room sometimes and he doesn't like the dogs. Daughter keeps her door shut but he has gone in there too.
It's a bloody pain to be honest and we get round it by keeping the doors shut. If we forget or don't shut them properly he will do it. It's on going but i can't be mad at him as we had him before the dogs. Other than this he is a good cat. He hasn't been done.

My 6yo female peed on my new bed in the cottage I bought a couple of times soon after moving in. I'd second others' comments here about it being stress related: once my cat realised it was our new home (and we said goodbye to my guests) and had a few days of just us, she was fine and has not peed in inappropriate places since.
To avoid ruining bedding, all I can suggest is covering the top of the bed (i.e. on top of your duvet/pillows) with a waterproof mattress protector when you're not in it - at least that way your bedding is spared. Good luck.
  • I don't think our cat is stressed. I think he is peed off and this is his way of showing it. It is interesting though that the OP has 2 cats and someone has said they don't like sharing space. I also have 2 male, un-neutered cats (although the other one comes home less and less now). I sort of saw it as a marking territory thing which is common to lots of animals, not just cats.

Cats are naturally fastidious animals and don't soil out of devilment or revenge. I would strongly disagree that you cat is not stressed. An unfortunate fact with cats is that their sense of smell is many times keener than ours and once something has been soiled it's very difficult indeed to completely eradicate the scent which is a signal for the cat to go back and re-soil that spot.
