Do not be fooled. This is a ruthless company who deliberately goes out to destroy all small shops/competition and town centres.
It does not have good prices (nor do many of the other big supermarkets). You are being totally conned, they make a song and dance about knocking off 3p when shops here like spar and centra regularly sell things for half price. For example I can buy 2l milk here in at least 5 shops within a mile at 69p.(N. Ireland)
Also Tescos do not pay comparable rates to the small independent shops. That is not a level playing field. They also get grants, again the independents don't.
As for them overcharging, the reason they have the policy they do is because they profit from the overcharging so much, its merely a defense for the OFT paying out the pittance in R&R.
Remember the Westminster buying votes scandal, who was behind that?
Don't be fooled, Tesco would destroy every town in the land and have a total monopoly controlling all our farmers, it already is near enough that stage in England. I do the R&R because I despise the company. Unfortunately so many govt officials from both parties are in their pocket.
As for the employees of Tesco who read this board, don't think you should be loyal to the company. Believe me they will not be loyal to you, just watch.
I suggest everyone here has a read of the wonderful magazine called "private eye" and you will see just some of the dirty tactics Tesco gets up to.

penny puppy, i am neither agreeing nor disagreeing with anything that you have posted. I would like to point you towards the moneysavers arms where there is currently a Tesco ethics thread running that may be more a more suitable place for a post such as yours.

The results of the competition commision enquiry will be interesting.

MSE is not the only place where people discuss shopping, bargains, Tescos and the like.

If individuals choose to get together elswhere - be it in public forums or private groups - so be it - I can't see a problem with this.

Of course it's easy to kick out if you want to belong to a private group - but for whatever reason you are black-balled.

Any group is only as healthy as its membership.

I remember when McDonag and his cyber-chums used to go off on MSM and chunder in private - did the MSE forums here quake and collapse - no, of course not.
