I have applied for some in March so will wait and see although it says "If you have been successful, we will post your tickets to you at least ten days before your date of travel. In the meantime, why not get some inspiration for your next Virgin Trains destination by visiting the City Guides section on our website?"

So not sure when you will actually be told if you have some or not. 10 days not great amount of time for getting good deal on Hotel !

well just applied for mine , if i get them. will take my son to the big city in london from glasgow. just need a nice cheap hotel now!! hope i get the tickets .... be good to get away after christmas

I only use the trains on a Sunday :rolleyes: But ive given it a go for a Saturday that im needed in Derby.

10,000 free single journeys are available. Travel can be made every day of the week except Sundays. Therefore, 10,000 free journeys equates to 2,500 return journeys for 2 people. Closing date for receiving applications is Monday 18th December 2006. Tickets will be available while stocks last.

My guess is that if they have not already all gone, they will be heavily oversubscribed by the end of today. This thread has been viewed 2561 times, that is just people from this site, a simple maths tells me they probably went before I even read the post, but I might as well try.

The really interesting bit is where it says,

If we cannot meet your requirements exactly, we will give you the nearest suitable alternative on your specified day of travel, based on your preferences starting with option one. If we cannot offer a suitable alternative on any of your options a notification will be sent by email at least ten days prior to your specified date of travel. By specifying your preference for a morning journey (AM) this includes all services departing between 06:00 and 12:00. By specifying an afternoon (PM) journey, this includes all services departing from 12:00 until 21:45.

I think it is worth a try as not everyone viewing this offer will go for it.
Every day I surprise myself on this site by going for a freebie, discount or a misprice thinking that i will be too late and am usually pleasantly surprised.
Kind Mr B may even extend the offer as they are getting all the free advertising out of it so you never know.
