Tiler has done a bad job

A friend of mine has had a tiler in redoing the tiling in her bathroom, and all is not going well. The woman is having to come back Wednesday for a 4th day to finish the job, and apparently it's all wonky and uneven. I'm even waiting for confirmation that she didn't remove the old small tiles first.
My friend's no good at complaining, and I was wondering what her rights would be in this situation. Can she refuse to pay or only pay a portion? It looks as if she's going to have to pay someone else to redo it. Are tilers normally members of a professional organisation? I think she got the woman's name from Yellow Pages rather than a personal recommendation.
Any advice gratefully received.

Use a tradesman next time :rotfl:
Dont let her fit anymore untill She has made good her previous work0 -
pls what do you mean by tradesman. i am asking because my kichen tiles are uneven after they were fitted by a tiler. he said this because the floor is uneven. can you reap floor tiles off , level the floor and restart the tling? Does this mean that i wont be able to re- use the tiles again- they cost a lot of money
all comments appreciated

very funny handyman
If your friend is not happy then she should say straight away,
You can get a tilers qulification but its not like a corgi registerd plumber i am afraid.
She can refuse to pay her
The tiler might take her to court and it would be down to the court decide about payments.
I take photo's of all the jobs I do to show potential clients and to cover myself
as one nice women decided to try and get me to payfor damage to her walls once that a neighbour made while shifting furniture back. Thankfull he done it with his boot and the tread mark matched his perfectly so the police were happy and i never went back to her again even though she asked me to paint her celing.THE SHABBY SHABBY FOUNDER0 -
Firstly dont pay!contact this website http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/contact_us.shtml and go from there.
I had a bad tiling job done these guys pointed me in the right direction.
Satisfactory conclusion for me, got the work redone by someone else, just a small section and knocked the bill off the bad tiler's bill. He never even contested it.

I would discuss it with the lady at first.
If your friend is not willing to do this then offer to discuss it for her.
Explain exactly why you're not happy about the job and ask what she can do to recover the situation/
Also, tiles can look awful before they're grouted, but the grouting works wonders and presents them very well. I have never had any complaints yet, but have often had to assure clients of this when I see their faces as the job gets underway!
Yes, tiles can be overtiled. It's not something I would do unless this presents an advantage over and above saving time. I'm old fasioned but I like to start from bottom up with these sorts of jobs.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0
