Fair Price for White Goods when Buying House

We're in the process of buying a house and we've been offered the white goods and a wardrobe for the following prices:
Fridge/Freezer £130 (it's about 6ft high)
Dishwasher £150
Washing Machine £100
Wardrobe £500 (apparently cost £1000 new, not fitted but stretches the length of the room)
Do these sound reasonable? I was thinking of saying we'll have them all for £800.

That sounds a bit on the high side for second hand stuff unless it's pretty new.0

look on gumtree, or ebay, or something like that to get an idea of what similar appliances are being sold for. depends what the make and model is really.
i certainly wouldn't give someone £500 for a wardrobe unless i really wanted it, regardless of how much they paid for it.0 -
Second hand furniture and white goods seldom retain much value. To me these figures seem high, but you can't blame them for trying.
Washing machines in particular are notorious for problems and one that is 2-3 years old is certainly a risk for you unless it's a top-flight make like Miele.
Also, factor in the inconvenience to them of moving the items, especially the wardrobes. I wouldn't pay more than £500 for the lot if it were me.If you feel my comments are helpful then I'd love it if you 'Thanked' me!0 -
I don't think the figures for the white goods seem that high. I sold a fridge/freezer and washing machine on ebay a couple of years ago and got more than what you've said here for them. Have a look on ebay and see what you can get for your money - you might strike lucky, or you might be better paying for theirs.
Also, don't be afraid to haggle with them. They've probably given you these prices knowing you will knock them down. If you don't ask, you don't get...0 -

I would not offer no more than 300 quid job lot......if they are only 2 yrs old then they should still have the receipts for them...I always keep all my receipts for items bought for the home......... espeically white goods..........I dont expect they want to take these with them so they are saying on a high price to see what you say..........if it were me id say to them 300 quid for the lot or you can take them with you, I bet they will acept your offer.....its worth a go.....mind you Im one of those people that will knock any price down..........when my family want to buy anything whether it be a car or a bike they take me along because they hate bartering.......good luck.0 -
I'd agree with the above.... offer them couple hundred quid and if they might accept it or they might not.... do you really want the stuff that badly?
I think the prices seems too high personally.... fridges aren't necessarily that dear and I'd not really want someone else's unless if was immaculately clean and nearly new.
I'd certainly not pay that sort of money on second hand stuff and when people say it's two years old it's normally double that unless they've got the receipts to hand.
Having said all that, I sold my last house with the genuine american monster side by side fridge with the house at no extra cost (as such) as I knew any person viewing the house would almost certainly want such a fridge as it fitted the kitchen so well... so when they heard the fridge was included they were over the moon.... and I'm glad I didn't have to move it out as it was sooo hard getting it in the narrow door way.

Ok looks like I was way off then, glad I asked the question here! I've had a look at gumtree and would probably say the dishwasher and washing machine should be about £50 each and the fridge is maybe £100, happy enough to buy new if need be so probably offer £200 for the white goods and leave the wardrobe. Although given they're unlikely to have a use for it in their new place there's always a chance they may offer it for peanuts just to get rid.
Thanks for all the help!0
