changing suppliers when the bill is not in my name

Hi All

I'm hoping someone can offer some advise. Our utilities our currently supplied by E On and at present the bill is in my father's name. I now need to change this to my name.

We're looking to change suppliers and I'm wondering - if I go ahead and change to a different company, would I be able to do this in my name, presumably with the new company then terminating our existing contract with E On, or would the bill with E On need to be in my name before we can proceed?

I hope this makes sense! Thanks in advance!

You can do both in one go. I accidentally did it once. I forgot the bill was in another name...an ex partner... then switched to get a better deal putting my name on the switching forms and it ended up closing the account and opening up a new account in my name.

    Hi pegface

It's relatively easy to alter names on accounts provided the old and new people agree it's ok to make the change.

All you need to do is contact us with your father present. Once you both confirm it's ok, the change will be made whilst you're on the phone. It literally takes seconds.

We need to do this to make sure we don't fall foul of the Data Protection Act or cause problems for an existing customer.

Hope this helps pegface. Let me know if you need any more info as will be glad to help.
