I am having trouble with some links not working in ie8 has anyone had the problem and how do you cure it?

    try updating to version 9/ or better still use Opera 11 or FF /

    OP what specific links and what specifically happens? Could be anything from your description. Are they links that worked previously?

    Tools button > Internet Options > Advanced tab > Reset.

    In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset. Confirm any prompts to reset.

    Close and reopen IE.

    i have tried that
    but i get a message saying close all windows applications( but they are all closed) and it will not allow me to continue

    To reset Internet Explorer settings automatically
    1. Click this button:

    2. In the File Download dialog box, click Run, and then follow the steps in the wizard.
    3. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
    4. When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, click Close, and then click Close again.

    Good idea but not if OP is on XP where it won't work.
