How likely am i to get a remortgage/mortgage with outstanding debts?

Hi all,
After a bit of advice.......
I have a mortgage, had it for 11 years. 3 years ago, i split from my then husband (now divorced) and found out he had not been paying the mortgage. I had a very very messy divorce and had to give up my job and therefore got into a bit of a mess with bills etc.
I got back on track with the mortgage, although they had tried to repossess. I went to court and they agreed repayments which i duly paid (Plus more) and then after a year the mortgage company transfered remaining arrears to the mortgage. So i now have no arrears just a slightly bigger mortgage. I have been paying this happily and on time for more than a year now.
I have sorted out all my other outstanding bills and am paying things off with a set repayment programme. These are all over 2 years old now.
I have a full time permanent job which is OK pay and would like to re mortgage with my new partner. My current lender (was Abbey, now Santander) told me they would not consider taking my ex husbands name off the mortgage because i had outstanding debts (total approx £12,000) and a repayment programme in place, let alone consider me for a re mortgage. My partner has repayment plans for debts he had between 8-10 years ago and is finishing paying some stuff off but its all agreed. Not sure how this might affect things either? he does work full time and has new credit that is all paid on time and is fully up to date.
My question is it likely i would find a lender who would consider us, i had a great payment record prior to the blip and a great payment record since. We just want to move on with our life, get the ex off the deeds and mortgage (pay of outstanding bills) and start a fresh with my new partner.
Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
