Alaris / Athena kitchens - too good to be true?

Any idea how I could check? Their quotes are coming in at 65% of equivalents from john lewis, etc, and one showroom told me a quote of theirs for Pronorm furniture was actually below the purchase price they were offered from the factory.

Facebook seems to have a few horror story pages, but there are also a few positive posts here around them; for a purchase this large I am obviously keen not to throw my money into a big firepit ;-p

Nobody will sell you materials at below cost price. Remember the saying "If something seems to good to be true, then it probably is".

Also, is this the final cost. Are they going to add on costs for surveyors fees, removal of old kitchen waste removal etc etc

I bought Wentworth/Mereway kitchen units from Alaris about three years ago with no problems at all and a significant discount over John Lewis, where I'd first seen the units.

Using JL was impractical anyhow because of tying together building work, fitting and services to their timescale.
