Prepaid Mastercard in €s - Ryanair

Hi there

I'm looking to find out which is generally considered the best prepaid Mastercard to use when booking Ryanair flights.

Currently, I live in France so I'd be looking for one that I can load up with euros as when I'm booking my flight from my hometown to the UK I have to pay in Euros.

Can anyone offer up some advice?

Thanks

Jools

  • Hi
Just booked a couple of seats on Ryanair to Florence in October. Used my Cashplus prepaid Mastercard (I also have their Euro one and able to transfer credit from one to the other on line!)
Paid succesfully 1st time with no fees applied!
    Great

Hi, I live in Austria and have used RyanAir to get to the UK from mainland Europe many times. I use Neteller's Net+ card - it is FREE to set up and if you only use it for the purpose of paying on-line / at a till in a shop then there is no charge also. It is also in EUROS, you have a choice when you set it up. EURO account is no problem, and I use IBAN/BIC to transfer funds to it from my Austrian EURO account.

It took some time to set up (they require you email them a passport scan + a recent utility bill at your address you wish to register the card) - it works fine for Ryan Air for me. The only negative I have found is the customer service - a number based in the US, which they never seem to answer. In all fairness to them though, even though it took them over 24 hours to contact me, in both cases I needed to speak to someone, they called me back, albeit eventually and any problems I had were sorted there and then on the phone.

One slight downside is that it takes a few days for the money to be transferred to the account by IBAN/BIC - so you might need to plan your Ryan Air trip 2-3 days before you normally do. If you only need a card for Ryan Air flights, I would recommend Neteller and the Net+ card. They delivered it to me in Austria, along with the PIN several days later in a separate envelope. I only use it for Ryan Air, and only load it up just before I know I am going to book a flight with them. It is SO nice not paying the charge and although it wasn't easy to set up, it is great now. Card is valid for 4 years.

If you want me to "refer" you to netteller, I get a bonus in my account so please PM me if you would like to do this or get any further info. Merci!
