Warranty 12 months or 24 months?

Hi, not sure if this is the proper area to post this question?

Some weeks ago I read that 12 month UK warranties on electrical goods are extended to 24 months under EU Legislation and am wondering if this applies to any other goods?

My Champion/Focus Petrol lawn mower purchased on 15/7/09 has developed an oil leak and as its under 2 years old hoping that it might be repaired under warranty.

Post your query over on the consumer rights board. There is a 'sticky' there you might want to read first. Also I'm sure Martin has done an article on the subject.

This has been done to death on other threads. No there is not an extension to 24m. Beyond 6 months it's up to the customer to prove a pre-existing fault, which would require you to first commission an independent engineer's report to prove that.
