Swimming Aids for 18 Month Old

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for swimming aids for an 18 month old?

He is too big for his swim seat now and we are due to go to centreparcs soon so would like to get something to make him feel a bit safer and put my mind at rest...

I know centreparcs have the body suite, however last time we went it brought him out in a terrible rash so don't really want to put him through that again!

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!
Mad

Arm bands are still the best form of flotation aid. They'll keep him afloat and teach him to keep his chin up out of the water.

DS2 has a SwimFin. Although nominal age range is 3-5 the creator says the youngest successful user was 15 months - it depends on development. (It's ASA approved.)

We used a swim float jacket something like this

Don't think we paid as much as these seem to be though and think ours was called something like a 'Bobbin' but can't seem to find it. As my 'baby' is now 15 though it was some years ago :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

They were great though and fantastic on holiday as they didn't take them off like they do sometimes with armbands.

I tried one of those with my son, and didn't like it at all. At one point he tipped over onto his face in the water and couldn't right himself. I don't think this would have happened with arm-bands, because the floatation is higher up the body.

I used swim jackets too..... girls felt too restricted in armbands plus they were pain to get on.

They are used in swim lessons. They put them in the correct position, easy to get on and off, you can use the number needed (usually start with 3, but my lo used 2 from just a few months) you can also use them as floats as they get bigger or frisby's to chase after. My youngest has just turned 4 and will start her swim with one but take it off and swim without (she can do 5m now!)

You could let him wear a t-shirt under the CP bodysuit. I've seen lots of children doing this.
If he got on with them before, this will be the cheapest option as it's free.

They use those at our swimming pool for lessons. They`re good.
