Different councils have different arrangements for paying council tax.
Enter your location into the directgov page and then look at your particular council's website for specific details.

You'll need to pay on the 1st day of the 2nd month after you you advise them that you now live in the property. i.e advise today payment due 1st July. At least the that's the case here. Your council may be different.:footie: Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. Who do you think is going to pay for the services you consume that are provided by your council. :think:No mate
Yep, you guessed it, all the other council tax payers paying extra to subsidise the non-payers. :shhh:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

James2005 has been busy today advising everyone not to pay. He's just going through one of his phases again.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

Do you still get your bins emptied?
Who would you ring when your house is on fire, or your house is being burgled?
You refuse to pay, but I bet you still use all of the services. Won't be long until the bailiffs are calling. :rotfl:0

I watched it. 20 mins of my life I will never get back. :rotfl: 20 mins of my life I will never get back. :rotfl:
To cut a long story short, they went to court trying to pull a fast one, the magistrates walked out, a letter was sent saying the money was still owed and the bailiffs would be calling.0

I think your ideas are a bit mixed up.
First of all you say that you have not consented to council tax, but surely you consent by definition that you use the services?
If you do not consent, you must not use any of the services.
Knowing your rights and trying to pull a fast one on a court technicality, in order not to pay for services you use, are two completely different things.
Anyway, the video you posted ultimately shows that there attempts in court failed, as the court was still decided against the defendant and the bailiffs were sent round!0

Question authority as much as you like, lobby for things to change / improve.
But not paying your council tax diminishes your case and removes any chance of respect for your argument - in my opinion.
