Sky Installation

Options
I have just had a sky dish installed on the 6 months for £75 offer.

As well as connecting the sky box they ran a wire from the telephone to the sky box. I do not know what this is for and would ask could I disconnect this without losing the sky signal.

many thanks

I'm sure that the Sky picture would still be present but the phone connection is for interactive services that payment is required for etc., disconnecting would break your terms and conditions.

if you do disconnect the phone cable, then in about 2 months (ish) you will receive a letter from sky telling you to plug it back in as per t+c.

i know as i have just received one :D

As you have had a subsidised installation your 1 year contract will state that the box has to remain connected to the phone line.

The line is used for things like the interactive services/ booking pay per view movies/ sky to check up on your usage etc

Once the year is up you are allowed to disconnect the line (though you obviously lose the ability to get PPVs etc) unless you get roped into getting a new subsidised package like multi-room or Sky+ etc

  • Thanks for your quick responses. I do not intend to but anything like ppv movies or use any of the things which I would need the phone connection for, so would I still be invalidating my contract.

My phone line is currently barred by BT to premium numbers so I could not ring them anyway.
