Extract Audio from DVD

Hi all,

What's the best way today to extract DVD audio and ultimately get it converted to mp3 format.

Most of the information I see on the internet is years old and I can't work out what's the best way.

On the one hand there are tools (mostly paid for) that convert direct from DVD.

On the other hand, using DVD Decrypter can get rid of the encryption and then I have VOB files that I can try and get converted.

What's the best way to do this today using a free tool?

If it's five discs or less, use Magic DVD Ripper

ffmpeg, avidemux, mplayer, all free, all will do it.

Thanks all. From your help I found other utilities. Finally settled on Handbrake to convert DVD extract into m4v file and Avidemux to extract the MP3 audio file from it.

Seems to work a treat!
