Looking for a cheap desk/workstation

Hi all,

I've been looking for a cheap desk/workstation. All I really need is a table top...not really after any draws, shelves, etc...just a plane and simple work top.

I've looked all over the place and the only one I can find that is a reasonable price is from Ikea, but I dont really fancy having to pay MORE than the cost of it to get it delivered!

Does anyone know of anything or any way of doing this? I thought about maybe getting a small dining table instead, or even something that is effectively a piece of kitchen worktop with supports either end. I only need it for about 3 months so really didnt want to spend a fortune on something :(

Places I've already ruled out are:
Argos
Staples
Tesco Direct
Asda

Any suggestions?

Cheers :)

For about £30 (or less), new, you can get folding/portable tables that are robust enough to use in somewhere like a craft market to display your wares or even as a party buffet table.

Benefits of it are: it's easy to transport, lightweight to move about, cheap, folds away when you've finished with it, robust and reliable, can be kept and reused for all sorts of things in the future.

They come in 4' or 6'. Just do some Googling for things like: folding, trestle table.

    Here's a similar one, 6'6" long for £40. http://www.foldingwarehouse.co.uk/6ft6-trestle-table-ft203.html

Looked into the portable/folding ones - not sure it would work as I've got a MacPro which weighs an absolute ton! Then there's 2x 24" screens which are also pretty heavy and have to be 'clamped' to the desk (they are on one of those monitor arms).

The cheapest I've found so far is this one: http://www.furniturefactor.co.uk/morgan-beech-computer-table-office-desk-1621-p.asp

I've got no idea how sturdy it'll be though :(

If anyone else has recommendations please do share them :)

    Thanks for your time!

If you have ruled out the places that the rest of us would suggest, then you may be strugglining on this one.

It wasn't really a case of ruling them out because I'm being awkward or anything though...nowhere seems to sell a simple 'surface only' desk for a reasonable price :/ Looks like I'm going to have to settle for an overpriced Argos one or something.

In my spare room / office I use a piece of ikea kitchen worktop across two low bookcases, I already had the bookcases and the worktop was cheap, works really well :-
