Growing mint

It can climb out of containers!
I've had it re-root in adjoining planters, and if the pot is flush with the ground/ near enough that mint foliage can touch it, then it can spread.0 -
It's lavender that's taken over our garden (granted it had two years of the house being unoccupied to do this in)... we have it EVERYWHERE!
I gather raspberries are another potential ASBO case but ours have diedLittle miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

Try to plant Apple Mint as opposed to Pepper or Spearmints, oh it will still spread like fleas on a Dog, but it makes better Mint Sauce, and is less prone to Rust or Whitefly. My Mind wanders, if found please return.0

You're Lavender needs a warm, sunny spot that is not too cold and wet in Winter, and it will only live for 3 or so years before it gets woody and horrible, so take cuttings often. My Mind wanders, if found please return.0 -

I planted some in a 25lt beer fermenting bucket sunk into the soil, with 5cm of the bucket above the surface & the mint still spread everywhere!0 -

I wish mine did this. I had two kinds grown from cuttings and planted in a long planter which was about a foot wide. It was fine for a couple of years but no where to be seen now. Can't believe it. The only thing that survived in that planter was alchemilla mollis and one primula. Not to worry, all kinds of surprises in gardening.0 -

I had mint growing in the garden every year it spread and spread it was ok at first because i had a very large garden but one year i thought enough's enough and dug it back, it didn't like that and it all died. It was a really nice mint like the colemans oneThe solving of a problem lies in finding the solvers.0
