I am currently painting guttering/drainpipe past week or so, but due to mother in hospice (passed away today) I want to get back into being busy
I need two drainpipes fixing better to wall the wood has rotten in places for fixings where a nail goes in
I believe I need something like this
http://www.readersdigest.co.uk/diy/139/491.html

I found something on net which may do but its expensive delivery for such a small order
http://www.draindepot.co.uk/index.asp?m=&cat=53&scat=55&t=Primed+Round+Cast+Iron+Downpipe
Downpipe Wooden Bobbin (4-6)
and
Galv Steel Coach Screw Inc Washer & Plug
anyone know a cheaper place they charging £9.5- + vat for delivery
Thanks

Make sure its a really good fixing, this was the outcome of a length of cast iron down pipe hitting an Audi from approx 30ftYou may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

You could consider removing the wooden fixings completely and pointing/filling the voids.
Then , as bed joints are usually 10mm , insert 10mm nylon wall plugs ( e.g Fischer) which will firmly grip against the bricks.
Before doing this you would need to ensure that the fixing brackets on your drain pipes have holes large enough to accept 6mm screws - even better if 8mm screws will pass through.Forgotten but not gone.0
