OH upload new firefox 4, and it is refusing to work.

He is running Windows Vista Home Premium.

He has done a system restore, also tried opening it in safe mode, and it is still not working.

Any one any ideas please?

(so far I have ignored the upload of the new version)

Thank you

Try unistalling firefox 4 and then delete firefox folder in the program files and do a reinstall.

Thank you for that, but he is worried that if he does that he will loose his bookmarks, so he won't do it!

You can back up your bookmarks and save them and then import them once you have reinstalled firefox. If he want to go back to older version of firefox download from here. https://www.filehippo.com

The bookmarks folder might be stored here

    c:\users\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\randomstring\bookmarks.html

If it is - copy that somewhere - then reinstall and import the bookmarks.

PS before trying above - try to install a new copy of Firefox in a different location 'program files' (custom install)
