We stayed at Argassi on Zante and really enjoyed ourselves, it's quite small but I think it's better if you're on a tight budget and you can easily get to larger resorts if you like. It's not too touristy, some nice little bars that aren't too rowdy, plus great authentic greek restaurants. I'd definitely recommend staying away from Laganas if you want a quiet holiday, as it's the party capital of the island. The only bad thing I'd say about Zante is that the airport is the size of a shed, when you're flying home at about 4 in the morning we had to sit in lines outside the airport as there wasn't enough space inside for everyone so not exactly the best facilities. Wouldn't let that put you off though!
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important

Lassi in Kefalonia would be my choice, last time visited 4 years ago, but sadly there is nowhere cheap in Greece any more and especially now with their Euro situation. But if you like a nice beach with a taverna on it and good restaurants at night this is the one. the strip itself can be busy but isn't rowdy. none of the apartments will have much in the way of cooking facilites but it was so cheap to eat out there when we went we didn't even bother. good luck hunting.

I actually enjoyed Corfu. Stayed in Dassia and had a trip over to Albania from Corfu Town, which was amazing. Corfu town has a lot of historical sights and is well worth at least a whole day.
    Normal people worry me.

We we to Halikidiki it was beautiful there....we were young then but wanted a quiet holiday so there was not a lot around where we were the hotel was small but nice enought with a smallish pool ...amazing bar/pub across the road and there was a couple more just a walk up the road... we also rented a car and drove around the penisula we were on...then the second one which was meant to be better the hotels were nicer but the beaches were much better where we were untouched and some very quiet...as we were driving around we even found some fantastic hidden beaches with crystal clear water that went out for miles....was fabulous....we took turns driving of a night and went to some neighbouring places that were more lively of an evening and to an open air nightclub one night too...I loved that holiday so much...it was the place that made it what it was!!

Good luck in your search and most of all enjoy your holiday

Greek Islands are gorgeous, only been to Corfu & Zante but i think they are great, and very cheap to eat out! Depending on what resort you go to will depend on how "British" they are. Just have to do some research and find one that sounds like a place you'd enjoy to visit.

Kefalonia is meant to be less "touristy" though, so i've heard.

    :)
